Join World Of

World Of is now open to contributors! We’re currently accepting volunteer guest contributors and team members.

We’re an independent music publication centered on discovery. We prioritize highlighting emerging, independent, niche, global, and other underrepresented artists, the worlds they’re building around their art, and the communities forming around them.

Our commitment to highlighting emerging talent extends beyond artists and into the people helping shape music and culture behind the scenes as well! We’re looking to work with emerging writers, editors, interviewers, designers, social media creatives, and other aspiring industry professionals who are building their experience, portfolios, and body of published work.

Whether you’re looking for your first byline, stronger samples for your portfolio, more hands-on editorial experience, or simply a space to contribute meaningful work, World Of aims to create opportunities for people who are still finding their place in the industry and deserve the chance to show what they can do.

But you don’t have to be new to the industry to contribute! Hobbyists, students, experienced professionals, longtime music lovers, and creatives at any stage are welcome to apply as well.

You might be a good fit if you’re passionate about discovering artists, interested in music and culture, comfortable collaborating with a growing independent publication, and excited about helping shape something while it’s still growing. You do not need an established music-industry career or a huge portfolio to apply.

Regardless, we’re happy you’d like to help us build our world, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Please Note: All positions are volunteer-based for now.

Choose Your Path

World Of is currently accepting both guest editorial contributors as well as editorial + design and social team members.

Which path is best for you?

Guest Contributors

Guest contributors can contribute individual pieces on a one-off or occasional, inconsistent basis. These contributors can pitch us an idea or request an assignment.

Pitch: Have a review, feature, essay, commentary piece, artist story, or other music-related idea you’d love to write? Send it our way for consideration.

Request An Assignment: Not sure what to write? We’ll help! Tell us what kind of piece you’d like to gain experience writing, along with your interests, and we may be able to match you with an available World Of assignment!

Guest contributors receive a published byline, a link to a website or platform of their choice, and a finished piece they can add to their portfolio.

Becoming a guest contributor may be best for you if you can’t contribute consistently or would only like to gain a few portfolio pieces.

World Of Team Members

World Of team members are expected to contribute on a consistent basis, at minimum, once a month. Team members can claim available assignments or pitch their own ideas, receive a published byline and link with each piece, and have a dedicated profile on the World Of site.

Becoming a team member may be best for you if you’d like to build a larger body of published work, demonstrate long-term involvement with a publication, collaborate and connect with other creatives, or gain more consistent experience in music media. Team membership is also open to those interested in contributing beyond writing through editorial, design, social media, and other publication work.

We’re looking for designers and social creatives interested in helping shape World Of visually and bringing our stories beyond the website. A strong visual eye and familiarity with music, fandom, and online culture are welcome.
