No – I’d rather be watching Spencer battle his Pak-Rat addiction in his aggressively loud, hot topic-core, skater boy fashion, actually. But the gap between me and 2007 is widening.
September 2, 2026
There is never a single point in time when I’m not going down one nostalgia rabbit hole or another.
At least once a year, I return to playing the old Flash games that I adored in my childhood – the Agame games, the CoolMath games, the GirlsGoGames games, Woozworld, Ranch Rush, Wedding Dash, Sally Salon, you name it.
Last September through October, I enjoyed replaying all the Telltale Walking Dead games for the first time in years.
I started this year off by watching reruns of The Parkers and rereading one of my favorite book series from my childhood: The Arthur Adventure Series.
I am forever trapped in a constant cycle of rewatching The Golden Girls, Modern Family, Bob’s Burgers, Reba, and Roseanne – with Arthur, SpongeBob, Ouran High School Host Club, George Lopez, One on One, The Proud Family, and both Zack and Cody shows thrown sporadically in between.
(And don’t save me. I don’t wanna be saved. I am exactly where I want to be!)
Of course, iCarly, Victorious, and Henry Danger reruns are sick of seeing me, too. But for whatever reason, of all the nostalgic media I continuously return to – most of which haven’t even been named, otherwise we’d be here all day – my iCarly revisits always seem to hit the hardest.
I go back to the other books, games, and shows I named simply because I enjoyed them when I was younger and don’t mind re-engaging with them now. As much as I love them and as many great memories as they do bring, they don’t hit me right in the chest the way my iCarly rewatches do, though.
Despite returning to iCarly less frequently than I return to anything else on this list, it always remains #1 on my list of things that epitomize my childhood. And even though it’s been over a decade and I still can’t decide whether I love iCarly or Victorious more, the former definitely is the one that elicits the strongest emotions whenever I return to it.
I was 7 when iCarly premiered, and I loved it from the very first time I saw that pilot air.
I had spent the three years prior watching Drake and Josh as it premiered, and I’d always loved Megan and Crazy Steve the most, so I was happy to see them again. This time, together. This time, siblings.
And the pilot of iCarly was funny. It didn’t take much to impress 7-year-old me anyway, so naturally, I was hooked from the start.
I was sat each and every Saturday, giggling happily at each new episode that came out. Carly and Sam were funny, Spencer and Freddie were handsome, and I wanted the penny tees in my closet and Sam’s iconic blue remote in my hands immediately.
(At some point, I did get one, but now I don’t know where it is, and I see they’re being sold for hundreds on eBay, so I doubt I’ll replace it any time soon. Should I ____ myself? No, no, it’s fine, everything’s fine, everything’s great.)
